New Lochside of Leys residents move into luxurious new build on previous homeland
Home is where the heart is and what better way to feel at home in your new house than knowing you grew up on the same land.
Steven Coutts grew up on the Banchory farm where Bancon Homes’ new Lochside of Leys development is being built, so it was an easy decision to buy a home there.
Steven and his wife Lorna, who relocated from Lumphanan, loved the area and had a special connection to the development.
The couple recently purchased a four-bedroom Raemoir style house at Lochside of Leys.
Steven, who works as a plant operator said: “I grew up on the farm that the Lochside of Leys development is situated on. The farm had been rented from the Leys estate since 1938 and the tenancy was passed down through my family until 2017.”
Health visitor Lorna said: “We previously lived about 10 miles from Lochside of Leys. We love the area and knew about the development through our local knowledge. It was also a huge bonus that Steven grew up nearby and Banchory has always felt like home.”
Bancon Homes worked closely with the couple to finish the build in line with their short timescale.
Lorna added: “We chose this house for a few reasons. Mainly, we wanted to remain in Banchory, so the fact the house was the right size, available in our desired location and due for completion in our desired timescale, it was an easy decision.”
Steven said: “All the fields on the farm were given names and the field which our home is built on was called The Branders, so we have since appropriately named our house The Branders.”
The Raemoir house type has been designed with modern living in mind. The downstairs is spacious, featuring an open plan kitchen, dining and family room, ideal for the family to spend time in together during a busy working week. There is also the added benefit of a cloakroom WC.
Downstairs also has a study and a large separate living room, creating a relaxed environment for the family to unwind.
Upstairs, there are four large double bedrooms, all complete with built in storage. The master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom and there is also a main family bathroom on the same floor.
Lorna said: “Our favourite part is the open plan kitchen, dining and family room. Its an area where we can all spend time as a family but its large enough to not feel too crowded. The storage in all the bedrooms is also a major feature and is perfect for keeping the house tidy.”
The couple chose to purchase a new build house because of its pristine condition and lack of need for any maintenance and those alterations that typically come with older properties.
While discussing the process of purchasing her new build home, Lorna said: “As expected the first few weeks were hectic as is any moving process, but the purchase of the house was straight forward.
“Having now settled in, we’re enjoying the benefits of our new home, for example, our children are able to walk safely to and from school and there are also various local amenities close to hand.”
Lochside of Leys has a range of family homes available including a Deeview on plot 17. This detached four-bedroom home features a spacious kitchen/diner, a living room for relaxing or entertaining and a separate family room.
Overlooking picturesque countryside, the detached property has an adjoining garage and benefits from a spacious rear garden.
Prices at Lochside of Leys currently start at £303,495 for a three bedroom Cairn home, while the Deeview, is priced at £369,995.
