Bancon Homes Senior Site Manager, Darren Cocker, Fundraises for Mental Health Aberdeen

Congratulations to our intrepid Senior Site Manager, Darren Cocker, who took up the gauntlet with a new challenge and has run and hiked Bennachie 4 times over a period of 24 hours to raise money for Mental Health Aberdeen, a mental health charity based in the city. 

The challenge took place on Friday 27^th August and Darren was joined by friends, neighbours and Bancon colleagues during the gruelling 3 hours and 12 minutes it took to scale the 528 metre peak four times, completing an equivalent of a half marathon.

Commenting, Darren said: “I really enjoyed the challenge, and only struggled on the last run of the day when I seriously questioned whether I had the energy to do it again.  Having a good group of friends there supporting me however gave me the encouragement though to push on through, and that’s what this challenge was all about.  It’s about the struggles people with mental issues have and how just being there for someone can help them get through.

“I am extremely grateful to everyone who has supported me and given donations.  This money will be used to help fund the new Mental Health Aberdeen hub and will benefit many people for years to come.’’
