Energy Efficient Homes That Save You Money

The HBF’s July 2023 Watt a Save report found that new build homebuyers in the UK collectively save over £400 million a year on energy bills, while also reducing carbon emissions by more than 500,000 tonnes.

The report highlighted that the average new build homebuyer could save £135 per month on energy costs, over £1,600 a year, compared to buyers of older, equivalent properties. For house buyers (rather than flats or bungalows), these savings rise to over £180 per month, totalling £2,200 a year.

At Bancon Homes, we are passionate about creating homes that reduce annual energy costs, lower carbon footprints, and minimise greenhouse gas emissions. Our homes incorporate the latest technologies and are typically built to an EPC “Band B” Energy Efficiency Rating, compared with the average Band D rating for older homes in Scotland.

When buying your new Bancon Home, these efficiency features help keep your bills low while keeping you warm all year round:

  • Increased Insulation and Double Glazing

All Bancon Homes come with modern, highly efficient insulation and Argon-filled double glazing. These features let in warmth from the sun while reducing heat loss, helping you manage energy costs and maintain a comfortable home temperature throughout the year.

  • Air-Tight Timber Frame Construction

Our homes are built to minimise air leakage and reduce unwanted drafts. The timber used is naturally renewable and responsibly sourced, making your home both energy efficient and sustainable.

  • Sustainable uPVC Windows and Doors

uPVC windows and doors offer excellent air tightness, durability, and weather resistance. They are long-lasting, strong, and fully recyclable up to 10 times, providing an energy-efficient and sustainable choice.

  • Solar PV Panels

Many of our homes include integrated solar photovoltaic panels, positioned to capture maximum sunlight. These panels reduce electricity costs and may allow any surplus energy to be sold back to the National Grid.

  • Lower Cost Lighting

Energy-saving LED lighting throughout your home reduces electricity costs and requires minimal maintenance.

  • High-Performance Kitchen Appliances

Our designer kitchens are fitted with highly efficient appliances, carefully selected to reduce energy and water consumption, helping to lower your home’s overall carbon footprint.

  • Efficient Central Heating

Modern central heating, Air-Source-Heat-Pump and hot water systems ensure your home stays warm and your energy use is optimised for cost-effectiveness.

  • Energy Efficiency Savings Calculation

Energy Efficiency Savings Calculation: The estimated annual saving of £2,510.73 is based on official guidance from HBF. More information can be found here: https://www.hbf.co.uk/research-insight/wattasave/
