Life changed for Willie Filson, his wife Ashley and their two children Summer and Cole when they moved into their new home in October last year.
Living in Longside, just two miles away from Bancon Homes’ Aden Meadows development in the Aberdeenshire village of Mintlaw, they saw the signage on the road and decided to go in and “get a run-down of the site”. Little did they know that this simple decision would be the start of a new journey for their growing family which would see them part exchange and move into one of the company’s beautiful Belmont homes in the middle of a global pandemic.
Originally from the central belt, Willie, a Global Field Services Manager with Baker Hughes and Ashley, an adult carer, always knew they wanted to move into a larger home once the kids were “bigger”, having already lived in a three-bedroom new build previously.
Commenting on the decision to buy a Bancon home, Willie said: “Not only was the design of the Belmont perfect for us, but we had great communication with the Bancon Team from start to finish. As we bought off plan, we were obviously nervous and had to wait to see the house built, so it was fantastic to get regular updates throughout the build even in the lockdown. This put us at ease and we really felt that we were in it together with Sales Director, Jo Skinner and Sales Consultant, Jennifer Martin, so it made it a worry-free process even in the middle of a pandemic.”
The Belmont is a four-bedroom, detached home which features a separate living room and large open-plan kitchen, dining and family area as well as an integrated double garage. All Bancon homes are finished to a high specification throughout and feature designer kitchens and quality appliances as standard.
The space and quality of the Belmont were the key attractions for Willie and his family. Commenting on this, Willie said: “When we walked into the house for the first time it just had the wow factor and we fell in love with it. The space, layout and specification were amazing and there was plenty of room for the kids, their home schooling and my home working. The stunning open plan designer kitchen also has lots of space for us to dine together as a family. We did pay for some extras and those didn’t disappoint. Having bought a new build home before they were way more than we had expected.”
With a large south facing garden ideal for barbecues and a spacious double garage, Willie is also delighted with the outdoor space in his new home. He is already using the garage as a “man cave” as there is plenty of space for two cars on the drive. Commenting on this Willie said, “When we saw the space on offer and realised the garden was south facing, we just knew this was the home for us.”
Willie is so delighted with his new home that he’s even recommended Aden Meadows to his friends and family. Moving up from Edinburgh, parents Terry and Janet have taken his advice and since moved into the beautiful four-bedroom Rosehill home next door. For some people that might be a bit too close, but Willie says, “It’s fantastic for the kids to have their grandparents so close by and dare I say it we have babysitters on tap.”
The location is also ideal for Willie and his family who like to enjoy an active life. Commenting on this Willie said: “Mintlaw is really friendly and there is plenty to do. My son and I are both keen footballers and play for Mintlaw Football Club, and my daughter loves dancing and takes lessons nearby. We also have dogs and there are some beautiful walks around Aden Country Park and Pitfour Lake. The Saplinbrae Hotel is also a favourite for lunch when it’s open, and we are on the edge of Mintlaw so it’s a short walk into the shops.”
“Good schooling is obviously also a priority for us. Whilst Summer and Cole still go to Longside School, the plan is that they will go to Mintlaw Academy later this year. With the new path being built that’s only a 10-15 minute walk away.”
Concluding on their decision to buy a Bancon Home, Willie said: “We’re very lucky to have moved into our dream home. The whole experience with Bancon Homes was excellent from start to finish.”
Bancon Homes currently has a range of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom luxury homes available for sale at Aden Meadows.
